I am an EU national and have been terminated after 8 years as a Professor at a Danish university. My partner is French and we consider moving back to France.
1- In case we move to France, for how long (after the 4 weeks registration at the job center) can I benefit from the A kasse unemployment compensation (in case i dont find a job.)
2- In case I find consultancy missions (for 1 or 2 months) beyond the borders of the EU, can I go for it and take a leave from the A Kasse allowances for this period and thereafter resume my allowances from the A Kasse?
many thanks
Hanne
6. maj 2021 kl. 10:16 #184supportKeymasterHi,
1) As an EU-citizen its possible to have up to maximum 3 months Unemployment benefits (“dagpenge”) from your danish A-kasse, while searching for job in another EU-country. Be aware that its a job-search option. This means that you must register as unemployed when arriving in france with the French Unemployment service, and meet the requirements for unemployed in France. However the benefit is paid from your danish A-kasse.
2) I am not fully sure about this. I will recommend you to ask your own A-kasse about this. But because the purpose of the 3-months rule is to find job, i will assume that the period will be terminated before time if you find job, no matter where..
If its still an option to return to Denmark, then it is important that you register (again) as unemployed at Jobnet.dk at latest on the last day of the 3 month period. Otherwise you will only be able to get dagpenge in Denmark again after having worked for 296 hours within 12 weeks.

I am now offered a consultancy job, while I am resident in Denmark. The consultancy shall be outside the EU but only for 3 months. I am now receiving my unemployment compensation.
How are these 3 months calculated in regards of my overall rights (2 years) ? how do I declare/deduct my honorarium knowing that I shall be paid only once at the end of my mission?
Many many thanks

7. maj 2021 kl. 10:18 #186supportKeymasterHi,
work must alway be deducted in the month in which it is performed, regardless of when you get paid.
if your honorar is paid to you as “B-indkomst”, then the the calculation of your working hours and your deduction in unemployment benefits must be made after conversion of your income.
The conversion takes place according to a conversion rate which in 2021 is DKK 251.99.
So if you have agreed a fixed amount which is paid to you after 3 months, you must divide the amount per month with DKK 251.99.
And the result is the hours you must declare on your monthly “dagpengekort/ydelseskort”. You do this in the A-kasse’s online platform.
However, I will recommend you to also contact your A-kasse, to be sure this is the right way to do it. And you should always inform your A-kasse about job.
Any kind of job/earning during a 2-year dagpenge-period will result in a extension of the 2-year period in the end. The extension will be in the ratio 1:2, which means that 1 hour of work gives two hours more dagpenge in the last end.
By this way you can extend your dagpengeperiode with maximum 1 year (1,924 hours), so your total dagpenge-period will be 3 years.
Let me know if you have comments.

Anders Weber, A-kasser.dk
