But just to be sure, I meant if we could get the unemployment benefit from A-kasse after finishing our PhD studies (during the 6-month job-seeking period).

The prerequisite of no public support you mentioned is also applied to the job-seeking period? And, therefore there is no way non-EU PhD students could get A-kasse while looking for a job, right?
