Hi,
Your right to get the feriepenge paid out:
Some conditions apply in order to be paid feriedagpenge. One of them says that it is a condition for entitlement to feriedagpenge that you would have been entitled to unemployment benefit (“dagpenge”) in the event of unemployment. This means that you cannot receive feriedagpenge if you at the time of the holiday, for example are enrolled in an education without right to dagpenge. People enrolled in SU-eligible educations can not receive dagpenge during the education, and thus can not receive feriedagpenge.
So if you decide to proceed with another degreee, you will lose the feriedagpenge (see next paragraph about latest date to apply, before you lose your feriedagpenge).
Periods and important dates:
as you probably know, a new danish Holiday Act came into force from September 1, 2020. Only wage-earnes are covered by The Holiday Act, however the same main principles of earning and taking vacations apply to feriedagpenge, according to “Bekendtgørelse om feriedagpenge“.
You earn feriedagpenge from September to August the following year (12 months). You can use the feriedagpenge from September to December the following year (16 months). The Holiday Act allows you to take your holiday as soon as the month after you have earned it e.g. the holiday allowance you accrue in September you can use in October.
The right to feriedagpenge lapses if the A-kasse has not received the application for feriedagpenge for a holiday year no later than 31 January in the subsequent holiday period. Example:
Feriedagpenge earned in the Holiday year from 1st September 2020 to 31 August 2021, must be taken from 1st October 2020 to 31 December 2021, and you must apply for them at latest 31 January 2022.
Best regards,
